Understand which foods and beverages are safe for your body with the MRT food sensitivity test. Reduce discomfort, bloating, gas, and diarrhea. Stop feeling sick. Reduce inflammation. Feel more confident with your food choices. Take control of your life.
Do you feel like your food is making you sick?
People often come to us, talking about their experiences with bloating, cramping, chronic fatigue, migraines, fibromyalgia, chronic discomfort and more. Many patients express to us that they feel like they’re always unwell. The connection between autoimmune diseases, migraines, and other chronic health problems and food sensitivities, allergies and intolerances isn’t always clear.
Food allergies is the body’s immune system reaction to a “harmless food.” The reaction is immediate and can be deadly. Allergy symptoms include rashes, swelling, breathing problems, light-headedness. If experiencing this, you should get to a doctor immediately.
Learning how to read food labels is critical to being safe. It’s important to read food and cosmetic labels each time you buy an item, as food companies can change ingredients of products without notice.
Food intolerances are the body’s inability to process or digest a certain food. Probably the most common food intolerance is lactose. As we age, our intestines make less of the enzyme lactase, which leads to a lactose buildup in the digestive tract. Other common intolerances include caffeine, gluten, and salicylates. Many can relate to feeling bloated, gassy, diarrhea, and other symptoms related to food intolerances.
Celiac disease is not an allergy, intolerance, or sensitivity. It’s an autoimmune disorder. When gluten is consumed, the body’s digestive system experiences a complex inflammatory reaction that can make people quite sick. Eating gluten just one time will not cause this reaction; however, over time, those with Celiac disease can experience weight loss, malnutrition, and other more serious digestive problems. Though people might have gluten intolerance, only 1% of the population have Celiac disease.
Food sensitivities can be tricky. The body can experience anything from joint pain to fatigue, rashes to “foggy brain” — an array of uncomfortable symptoms that you just can’t seem to put a finger on. Add the timeline complexity. As opposed to allergic reactions, which are immediate, sensitivities can occur anywhere from 24 – 72 hours after ingesting particular foods. Sensitivities also depend on the quantity of the food consumed. Undergoing food sensitivity testing is key to identifying those foods and chemicals that are making you feel bad.
If you are experiencing any of the aforementioned symptoms, working with a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist to identify food allergies, intolerances, and sensitivities and pin-point trigger foods can make a significant difference to your wellbeing.
We will make sure you continue to receive key nutrients while eliminating trigger foods and come up with a comprehensive, individualized nutrition plan to help you live a healthier, more vital life.
